106 – ‘Ali ibn al-Ja‘d narrated to us, Shu‘ba informed us, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik, who traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ: “A believer should not wish for death because of an affliction that has struck him. Yet if he must do so, let him say: ‘O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and take me in death when death is better for me.’”
