96 – Ahmad ibn Jamil al-Marwazi narrated to us; Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak informed us; Yunus ibn Yazid, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, told us; ‘Urwah ibn al-Zubayr reported that Aʿishah, the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), used to say: “If only I had been a thing forgotten and left in oblivion before the events that befell concerning Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). By Allah, I never wished that any of Uthman’s rights be violated without a like violation falling upon me; indeed, had I desired his killing, I would have been killed myself.”
