82 – ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Qurayb narrated to me, from his uncle, who said:
The Arabs used to say:
• At ten, a boy already trades blows;
• At twenty, he is the quickest of runners;
• At thirty, the sharpest of observers;
• At forty, the strongest of strikers;
• At fifty, a lion stirring up the dust;
• At sixty, the soundest of speakers;
• At seventy, the most even-tempered of those who sit;
• At eighty, he shuffles along with the shufflers;
• At ninety, he finds neither company nor yearning;
• And at one hundred, he is the noisiest of all who break wind.
