81 – Yaʿqūb ibn ʿUbayd narrated to me; Yazīd ibn Hārūn told us; al-ʿAwwām ibn Hawshab told us, from ʿIkrima:

Regarding Allah’s words, “We have certainly created man in the finest mould” (al-Tin 95:4), he said: “That means youth.”

As for, “Then We return him to the lowest of the low” (al-Tin 95:5), he said: “That is senility.”

And about, “except those who believe and do righteous deeds” (al-ʿAṣr 103:3), he said: “When a believer is returned to the most decrepit stage of life, ⦗76⦘ his record continues to show for him the best of what he used to do when he was healthy and in his youth.”
