78 – Abu Ishaq Ismaʿil ibn Abi al-Harith related to me: I heard Yazid ibn Harun say:
(in the long metre)
It is as though, now that I have lived the span of ninety years,
I have cast aside a robe the years had worn to rags.
I still cherish the hope that what has slipped away might return,
yet alas—how impossible! The passing nights have decreed otherwise.
