Al-'Umr wa-l-ShaybIbn Abi al-Dunya

77 – Abu ʿAbd Allah al-ʿAttar related to me: Yazid ibn Harun used to recite:

I awake, each limb too feeble to support the other—
as though my youth had been a loan once granted.
That loan has now been called in, as repayment was ordained,
and I am left a shriveled, cast-off staff.
