60 – Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan narrated to us; Yaḥyā ibn Isḥāq related to us; Ibn Lahīʿah transmitted from Zāfah al-Ghāfiqī:
A man from Aylah who had been administering their affairs once took up a mirror and, on noticing a single white hair in his beard, cried out, “Surely the courier of death (barīd al-mawt) has hastened to me! Your leadership is now your concern, and your estates likewise are your concern.” He then built himself a small reed hut (khuṣṣ) and remained inside it, worshipping Allah without cease until he passed away.
