53 – Saʿīd ibn Yaḥyā al-Umawī told me; Muḥammad ibn Saʿīd narrated to us; ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr said:
ʿUbayd Allāh ibn Ziyād asked Abū Hurayrah al-Kindī, “How are you?”
He replied, “I nod off in the assembly but lie awake on the mattress; I forget the recent narrations and remember only the old ones. As for the young woman: if she agrees with me, I grow weak, and if she refuses me, I become angry. ⦗67⦘”
Ibn Ziyād said, “By Allah, you are ruined!”
