21 – Ismaʿil ibn al-Harith narrated to me; Dawud ibn al-Muhabbar narrated to us, from Salih al-Murri, from Abu ʿImran al-Jawni, from Abu al-Jald:

Jesus, son of Mary, once passed by a group of elders and said, “O elder folk, do you not know that when the crop whitens, dries out, and hardens, its harvest is near?” They answered, “Yes indeed.” He replied, “Then make ready, for your harvest is close.”

He then passed by some youths and said, “O young people, do you not know that the Lord of the crop may at times reap it while it is still green?” ⦗56⦘ They answered, “Yes indeed.” He said, “Then prepare yourselves, for you do not know when you will be harvested.”
