Al-'Umr wa-l-ShaybIbn Abi al-Dunya

20 – Abu ʿAbd Allah Muhammad ibn Ayyub narrated to me, from a man of the Bahilah tribe, who said: A group of people went in to see a Bedouin when they were visiting him during an illness. One of them asked, “How many years have passed over you?” He answered, “One hundred and fifty years.” They exclaimed, “By Allah, what a lifespan!” He replied, “Do not say that. By Allah, if you were to reach it yourselves, you would still reckon it too short.”
