96 — Hamza related to me: Abdān informed us: Abd Allāh informed us: Hammād ibn Salama informed us, on the authority of Rajā Abu al-Miqdām, on the authority of Nuʿaym, the secretary of Umar ibn Abd al-Azīz—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: Umar ibn Abd al-Azīz said, “Fear of boasting keeps me from saying many things.”
٩٦ - حَدَّثَنِي حَمْزَةُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَانُ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ رَجَاءٍ أَبِي الْمِقْدَامِ، عَنْ نُعَيْمٍ، كَاتَبِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ﵁ قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ: «إِنَّهُ لَيَمْنَعُنِي مِنْ كَثِيرٍ مِنَ الْكَلَامِ مَخَافَةُ الْمُبَاهَاةِ»
