743 — Salama ibn Shabīb related to me, on the authority of Abū Ishāq al-Tālaqānī, who said: Kināna ibn Jabala related to us. He said: Mālik ibn Dīnār said: “If the two angels who record your deeds were to come to you demanding payment for the sheets on which they record your deeds, you would refrain from needless speech. But since the sheets are supplied by your Lord, will you not restrain yourselves?”
٧٤٣ - حَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الطَّالْقَانِيِّ، حَدَّثَنَا كِنَانَةُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ مَالِكُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ: «لَوْ أَنَّ الْمَلَكَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَكْتُبَانِ أَعْمَالَكُمْ عَدُّوا عَلَيْكُمْ يَتَقَاضَيَانِكُمْ أَثْمَانَ الصُّحُفِ الَّتِي يَنْسَخَانِ فِيهَا أَعْمَالَكُمْ، لَأَمْسَكْتُمْ عَنْ فُضُولِ كَلَامِكُمْ. فَإِذَا كَانَتِ الصُّحُفُ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّكُمْ، أَوَ لَا تَرْبِعُونُ عَلَى أَنْفُسِكُمْ»
