73 — Khālid ibn Khidāsh narrated to us: Mahdī ibn Maymūn narrated to us, from Ghaylān ibn ⦗79⦘ Jarīr, from Mutarrif ibn Abd Allah, from his father—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—with a group of men from Banū Āmir. They said, “You are our father; you are our leader; you surpass us all in virtue; you have shown us the greatest generosity; you are the illustrious provider of feasts; and you are this and that.” He replied, “Speak in your usual manner, and do not let Satan carry you away.”
٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ غَيْلَانَ بْنِ ⦗٧٩⦘ جَرِيرٍ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ﵄ قَالَ: قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ فِي رَهْطٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَامِرٍ فَقَالُوا: أَنْتَ وَالِدُنَا، وَأَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا، وَأَنْتَ أَفْضَلُنَا عَلَيْنَا فَضْلًا وَأَنْتَ أَطْوَلُنَا عَلَيْنَا طَوْلًا، وَأَنْتَ الْجَفْنَةُ الْغَرَّاءُ، وَأَنْتَ أَنْتَ. فَقَالَ: «قُولُوا بِقَوْلِكُمْ، وَلَا يَسْتَهْوِيَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ»
