711 — Al-Husayn ibn Junayd narrated to us: Shuayb ibn Harb narrated to us: Alī ibn Masada narrated to us: Riyāh ibn Ubayda narrated to us, saying: I was with Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz—may Allah be pleased with him—when he mentioned al-Hajjāj. I began reviling and disparaging him. Umar forbade me and said, “Take it easy, Riyāh. I have heard that when a man commits an injustice against another, the wronged person may continue reviling and belittling the wrongdoer until he has obtained his due in full—and the wrongdoer is then left with a claim against him.”
