709 — Abū Ubayda ibn Abd al-Samad ibn Abd al-Wārith narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Iyās al-Aftas narrated to us, from Atā ibn Abī Rabāh, who said: “A man was mentioned in the presence of Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—and she spoke disparagingly of him. They said, ‘He has died.’ She then prayed that Allah have mercy on him and said, ‘I heard the Messenger of Allah—peace and blessings be upon him—say: “Speak of your dead only in good terms.”’”
