699 — Ahmad ibn al-Hārith related to me, on the authority of an elder from Quraysh, who said: “One of the scholars was asked, ‘Why do you remain silent for so long?’ He replied, ‘I regard my tongue as a savage beast; I fear that if I let it loose, it will maul me.’”
