696 — Al-Husayn related to me, from an elder of the people of Syria, from a descendant of Sulaymān ibn Abd al-Malik, who said: Sulaymān ibn Abd al-Malik said, “Silence is the sleep of the intellect, and speech is its wakefulness; neither state is complete without the other.”
