642 — Muhammad ibn Idrīs related to me: ʿAbda ibn Sulaymān related to us, from Ibn al-Mubārak—may Allah have mercy on him—who said:

Ibn ʿAwn was asked, “Will you not speak and thereby be rewarded?” He replied, “Should one who speaks not be content merely to come out even?”
