641 — Surayj ibn Yūnus related to me: Yazīd ibn Hārūn related to us: Hishām ibn Hassān informed us, from Khālid al-Rabaʿī, who said:

“I was informed that Jesus—peace be upon him—said to his disciples, ‘Tell me: if you passed by a sleeping man whose garment the wind had blown aside, exposing him, what would you do?’ They replied, ‘We would pull it back over him.’ He said, ‘Rather, you would uncover what remained covered.’

“He gave this as a parable for people who hear something bad about a man, then add to it and recount even more.”
