624 — Hamza ibn al-Abbās related to me: Abdān ibn Uthmān informed us: Abd Allah ibn al-Mubārak informed us: Umar ibn Bakkār informed us, from Amr ibn al-Hārith, from al-Alā ibn Sad ibn Masūd, from one of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, who said:
“A man may say something to me, and replying to him would be more satisfying to me than cold water when parched with thirst; yet I refrain from answering him for fear that it would be superfluous speech.”
