611 – Muhammad ibn Qudāma al-Jawharī and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Majīd al-Tamīmī related to me—the wording is that of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Majīd. They said: Yahyā ibn Sulaym related to us, from Ismāīl ibn Kathīr, from Mujāhid—may Allah have mercy on him—who said: “The children of Adam have angelic companions. When a man speaks well of his Muslim brother, the angels say, ‘And may you have the same.’ But when he speaks ill of him, the angels say, ‘O son of Adam, whose own faults remain concealed, restrain yourself and praise Allah, who has concealed your faults.’”
