543 — Ibn Manī narrated to us: Abū Muāwiyah narrated to us: al-Amash narrated to us, from Mujāhid, from Abū Mamar, who said: Abdullah—may Allah be pleased with him—said: “Lying is not permissible, whether in jest or in earnest, nor may any of you promise his child something and then fail to fulfill it.”
