535 — ʿAbd Allah ibn ʿUmar ibn Muhammad al-Qurashī and ʿAbd al-Rahmān ibn Sālih al-ʿAtakī narrated to us. They said: Husayn al-Juʿfī narrated to us, from al-Hasan ibn al-Hurr, from Maymūn ibn Abī Shabīb, who said: “I sat down to write a letter and came to a piece of wording which, had I included it, would have embellished the letter, but I would have lied. I therefore resolved to leave it out. Then a caller called to me from one side of the house:”
“Allah makes firm those who believe with the firm word in the life of this world and in the Hereafter, and Allah leads the wrongdoers astray.” [Ibrāhīm: 27]
He said: “I prepared for Friday prayer—during the time of al-Hajjāj—and kept asking myself, ‘Should I go?’ Then a caller called to me from one side of the house:”
“O you who believe, when the call to prayer is made on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah.” [al-Jumuʿa: 9]
He said: “So I went.”
