520 — Ahmad narrated to us: ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated to us: Yūnus ibn Yazīd al-Aylī narrated to us, from Abū Shaddād, from Mujāhid: Asmāʾ bint ʿUmays—may Allah be pleased with her—informed us, saying: “I was the woman who attended to Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—prepared her, and brought her to the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—accompanied by several women. By Allah, we found that he had nothing to offer us except a cup of milk. He drank from it and then handed it to Aisha.” She continued: “The young bride felt shy, so I said, ‘Do not turn away the hand of the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Take it from him.’ Shyly, she took it and drank from it. He then said, ‘Pass it to your companions.’ We said, ‘We do not desire it.’ He replied, ‘Do not combine hunger with lying.’ I asked, ‘O Messenger of Allah, if one of us says of something she desires, “I do not desire it,” is that counted as a lie?’ He replied, ‘Indeed, ⦗253⦘ a lie is recorded as a lie, even a little lie as a little lie.’”
