515 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Shabābah ibn Sawwār narrated to us: Warqāʾ narrated to us, from Ibn Abī Najīh, from Mujāhid—may Allah have mercy on him—regarding His words: “And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah: ‘If He gives us of His bounty, we will surely give in charity’” [al-Tawbah: 75]. He said: “Two men came upon a seated gathering and said, ‘By Allah, if Allah grants us of His bounty, we will surely give in charity.’ But when He provided for them, they withheld it.”
