513 — Muhammad ibn Idrīs al-Hanzalī narrated to me: Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh ibn Wahb informed me, from Maslamah ibn ʿAlī, who said: Yazīd ibn Maysarah said: “Falsehood feeds the gateway to every evil, just as water nourishes the roots of trees.”
٥١٣ - حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ عُلَيٍّ قَالَ: قَالَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ: «الْكَذِبُ يَسْقِي بَابَ كُلِّ شَرٍّ كَمَا يَسْقِي الْمَاءُ أُصُولَ الشَّجَرِ»
