499 — Dāwūd ibn Amr al-Dabbī narrated to us: Dāwūd ibn Abd al-Rahmān al-Attār narrated to us, from Abd Allah ibn Uthmān ibn Khuthaym, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from Asmā bint Yazīd—may Allah be pleased with her—that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, addressed the people and said, “O people, what drives you to rush headlong into lying as moths rush into the Fire? Every lie is recorded against the son of Adam except in three cases: a man who lies to his wife to please her; a man who lies to two people in order to reconcile them; and a man who lies as a stratagem of war.”
٤٩٩ - حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الضَّبِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْعَطَّارُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتِ يَزِيدَ ﵂، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ فَقَالَ: " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، مَا يَحْمِلُكُمْ أَنْ تَتَابَعُوا بِالْكَذِبِ كَمَا تَتَابَعُ الْفِرَاشُ فِي النَّارِ، كُلُّ الْكَذِبِ يُكْتَبُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا ثَلَاثُ خِصَالٍ: رَجُلٌ كَذَبَ امْرَأَتَهُ لِيُرْضِيَهَا، وَرَجُلٌ كَذَبَ امْرَأَيْنِ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمَا، وَرَجُلٌ كَذَبَ فِي خَدِيعَةِ الْحَرْبِ "
