498 — Muhammad ibn Amrah narrated to me: Marhūm ibn Abd al-Azīz narrated to us, saying: I heard Mālik ibn Dīnār—may Allah have mercy on him—say, “I read in one of the scriptures: No preacher delivers a sermon without his words being weighed against his deeds. If he is truthful, his truthfulness is affirmed; but if he is a liar, his lips are cut with two shears of fire, and whenever they are cut, they grow back.”
