492 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us: al-Masūdī informed us, on the authority of a man from the Banū Asad, who said: Abd Allah ibn Masūd—may Allah be pleased with him—said: “One who openly defies Allah Most High by disobeying Him is like one who swears falsely by His name; and a lie certainly breaks the fast.”
