484 — Muhammad ibn Idrīs narrated to me: Mahmūd ibn Khālid narrated to us: My father narrated to us: Īsā ibn al-Musayyab narrated to me, from Adī ibn Thābit, who said: Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—said: “Before we have seen you, those dearest to us are those with the finest names. Once we have seen you, those dearest to us are those with the finest character. Once we have tested you, those dearest to us are those most truthful in speech and most trustworthy.”
