477 — Abū Muhammad ʿAbd Allāh ibn Ayyūb al-Mukharrimī narrated to me: ʿAbd al-Rahīm ibn Hārūn, Abū Hishām al-Ghassānī, narrated to us, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz ibn Abī Rawwād, from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar—may Allah be pleased with them both—who traced it back to the Prophet, saying: “A servant may indeed tell a lie, whereupon the angel withdraws a mile or two away from him because of what he has uttered.”
