471 — Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us: Wakī narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from al-Amash, from Abd Allah ibn Murra, from Masrūq, from Abd Allah ibn Amr—may Allah be pleased with them both—who said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever possesses four traits is an outright hypocrite; and whoever possesses one of them possesses a trait of hypocrisy until he abandons it: when he makes a promise, he breaks it; when he speaks, he lies; when he disputes, he transgresses; and when he makes a covenant, he betrays it.”
