462 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Abū Dāwūd al-Tayālisī narrated to us, from Shuʿbah—may Allah have mercy on him—who said: “Whenever I arranged to meet Ayyūb, as he was about to part from me he would say, ‘There is no appointment between you and me.’ Yet when I came, I would find that he had arrived before me.”
