456 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Muhammad ibn Kathīr narrated to me, from al-Awzāī, from Hārūn ibn Riāb, who said: When death approached Abd Allah ibn Amr—may Allah be pleased with him—he said:
“A man from Quraysh once asked me for my daughter’s hand in marriage, and I gave him something resembling a promise. By Allah, I will not meet Allah bearing one-third of hypocrisy. Bear witness that I have married her to him.”
