437 — Al-Muthannā ibn Muādh narrated to us: Al-Mutamir ibn Sulaymān narrated to us. He said: I heard Ishāq ibn Suwayd say: I heard al-Alā ibn Ziyād relate that Umar—may Allah be pleased with him—was on a journey and began to sing. He then said, “Why did you not rebuke me when I spoke idly?”
