398 – Al-Husayn ibn ʿAbd al-Rahmān related to me: Khālid ibn Safwān, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “Jesting is the fools’ way of trading insults.” He said, “It used to be said: ‘Everything has a seed, and the seed of enmity is jesting.’”
