377 — Ishāq ibn Ismā'īl narrated to us: Ya'lā ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, from Ismā'īl ibn Abī Khālid, from Hakīm ibn Jābir, who said: Abū al-Dardā'—may Allah be pleased with him—was reclining among his companions with his face covered. A corpulent priest passed by, and they said, “O Allah, curse him! What a thick neck he has!” Abū al-Dardā'—may Allah be pleased with him—asked, “Whom did you just curse?” They told him, and he said, “Do not curse anyone, for it is not fitting that one who habitually curses should be regarded by Allah as a man of utmost truthfulness on the Day of Resurrection.”
