356 — ‘Abd al-Rahmān ibn Sālih narrated to us: al-Muhāribī narrated to us, from al-‘Alā’ ibn al-Musayyab, from his father, from Ka‘b—may Allah be pleased with him—who said, “You associate partners with Allah when a man says, ‘No, by your father!’ ‘No, by the Ka‘bah!’ ‘No, by your life!’ and similar expressions. Swear by Allah, whether truthfully or falsely, but do not swear by anything besides Him.”
