35 — Ahmad ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us: Khalaf ibn Tamīm narrated to us, from Abd Allāh ibn Muhammad al-Ansārī, from al-Awzāī, who said: Umar ibn Abd al-Azīz—may Allah have mercy on him—sent us a letter that no one besides Makhūl and me memorized: “To proceed: Whoever frequently remembers death will be content with little of this world; and whoever counts his words among his deeds will speak little of what does not benefit him.”
