332 — Ali ibn al-Ja‘d related to us: Abu Ghassān Muhammad ibn Mutarrif informed me, from ⦗188⦘ Hassān ibn Atiyya, from Abu Umāma—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said: “Foul speech and ostentatious eloquence are two branches of hypocrisy.”
