320 — Ali ibn al-Ja‘d related to us: al-Qāsim ibn al-Fadl al-Huddānī informed me, from Muhammad ibn Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) forbade reviling the polytheists who had been slain at Badr. He said: “Do not revile these men, for nothing you say reaches them, while you hurt the living. Indeed, foul speech is a mark of ignobility.”
