299 — Husayn ibn Abd al-Rahmān narrated to us that he narrated from Bishr ibn al-Sarī, who said ⦗174⦘: Mansūr ibn Zādhān (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “When one of my brothers meets me, I am pleased—provided that he neither distresses me concerning my friend nor reports to me the backbiting of someone who has spoken ill of me. I remain under great strain because of anyone who sits with me until he leaves, fearing that he may sin and cause me to incur sin as well.”
