277 — Ahmad ibn Jamīl narrated to us: Abd Allah ibn al-Mubārak informed us: Abd al-Rahmān al-Masūdī informed us, from Mālik ibn Asmā ibn Khārija, who said: I was with Abū Asmā when a man came to one of the rulers and praised him lavishly. He then came to Abū Asmā and sat beside him in a corner of the house. As they conversed, it was not long before the man began speaking ill of that ruler. Abū Asmā said: I heard Abd Allah ibn Masūd—may Allah be pleased with him—say: “Indeed, whoever is two-tongued in this world will have two tongues of fire on the Day of Resurrection.”
٢٧٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ جَمِيلٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ خَارِجَةَ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ إِذْ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى أَمِيرٍ مِنَ الْأُمَرَاءِ، فَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَأَطْرَاهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ إِلَى أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ فَجَلَسَ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ فِي جَانِبِ الدَّارِ، فَجَرَى حَدِيثُهُمَا، فَمَا بَرِحَ حَتَّى وَقَعَ فِيهِ، فَقَالَ أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ﵁ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ ذَا اللِّسَانَيْنِ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِسَانَانِ مِنْ نَارٍ»
