270 — Fudayl ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb narrated to us: Abū ʿAwāna narrated to us, from Mūsā ibn Abī ʿĀʾisha, from Sulaymān ibn Burayda, who said: I heard Ibn ʿAbbās—may Allah be pleased with them both—say concerning His words, “But they both betrayed them” [al-Tahrīm: 10]: “It was not adultery. Rather, Noah’s wife would tell people that he was mad, while Lot’s wife would inform them whenever guests arrived.” Fudayl narrated to us: Bazīgh narrated to us, saying: I heard al-Dahhāk say, “Their betrayal was malicious gossip.”
