22 — Ahmad ibn Manī‘ narrated to us: Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us: Muhammad ibn ‘Amr narrated to us, from Abū Salamah, that Mu‘ādh ibn Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “O Messenger of Allah, counsel me.” He replied, “Worship Allah as though you see Him, reckon yourself among the dead, and, if you wish, I will tell you what has a stronger hold over you than all of this.” He said, “This,” and gestured with his hand toward his tongue.
