219 — Alī ibn al-Jad narrated to us: Uthmān ibn Matar informed me, from Thābit, from ⦗141⦘ Anas: A man approached the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—while he was seated in a gathering, and those present spoke ill of the man. The Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—welcomed him. When the man rose to leave, the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—said, “The person of the worst standing on the Day of Resurrection is one whose tongue—or whose evil—is feared.”
