218 — Abū Khaythama and Ishāq ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; they said: Sufyān ibn Uyayna narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir, who heard Urwa say: Aisha—may Allah be pleased with her—told me: A man sought permission to enter upon the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, “Allow him in. What a wretched son of his clan he is—or: what a wretched man of his clan he is!” When the man entered, however, the Prophet spoke gently to him. After he left, we said, “You said what you said, but then you spoke gently to him?” He replied, “O Aisha, the people of the worst standing before Allah on the Day of Resurrection are those whom people leave alone—or forsake—for fear of their evil.”
