195 — Khālid ibn Mirdās narrated to us, saying: Abū ‘Aqīl narrated to us, from Hafs ibn ‘Uthmān, who said: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb—may Allah be pleased with him—would say, “Do not occupy yourselves with speaking about people, for that is an affliction. Instead, devote yourselves to the remembrance of Allah, for it is a mercy.”
