182 — Abdullāh ibn Abī Badr narrated to me. Yazīd ibn Hārūn informed us, from Hishām ibn Hassān, from Khālid al-Rabaī, who said:
“I entered the mosque and sat with a group of people. They began speaking about a man, so I told them not to do so, and they stopped. Their conversation then continued until they returned to speaking about him, and I joined them in some of their talk. That night, I saw in a dream what appeared to be an extremely tall black figure carrying a white willow-wood platter with pork upon it. It said, ‘Eat.’ I said, ‘Am I to eat pork? By Allah, I will not eat it!’ It seized me by the nape and said, ‘Eat!’ It rebuked me very harshly and thrust the meat into my mouth. I began chewing it but could not swallow it. I was afraid to spit it out, and then I awoke.” He said, “By the One in whose name oaths are sworn, for thirty days and thirty nights I ate no food without tasting that meat in my mouth.”

183 — I also heard Yahyā ibn Ayyūb relate of himself: “I saw in a dream that something similar was done to me, and for several days I could taste the grease on my lips. This was because I used to keep company with a man who backbit people.”
