Al-Samt wa-Adab al-LisanIbn Abi al-Dunya

181 — Abdullāh narrated to us. Ishāq ibn Ibrāhīm narrated to us. Saīd ibn Āmir informed us, from al-Rabī ibn Sabīh, that two men were sitting at one of the entrances to the Sacred Mosque. A man who appeared effeminate passed by them. They let him go on, then said, “There is certainly still some of it left in him.” The prayer was then called, so they entered and prayed with the people. What they had said weighed on their minds, so they went to Atā—may Allah be pleased with him—and asked him. “He instructed them to repeat their ablution and prayer.” They were fasting, and “he instructed them to make up the fast of that day.”
